Volunteer at HEPPAC! Enhance your skills, learn new skills, advance your career and help your community at the same time! We host and train volunteers, interns and externs in a variety of areas. We have opportunities in direct service as well as special projects to advance the mission of HEPPAC and improve the health of our community.
We accept volunteers with a background or interest in the following areas:
- Medical student/resident, PA, NP
- California State Certified HIV/HCV testers
- RN, LVN
- Medical Assistant
- Phlebotomy
- Harm Reduction
- Back Office/Billing
- Electronic Health Records
- Health Policy
- Public Health
- Marketing and Outreach
Our current Projects to volunteer
Drop in Center – HEPPACs drop in center provides basic need services inclusive of showers, laundry and access to food short term crisis counseling and needed referrals.
SSP – Syringe Service Program operates at 3 fixed sites located in West, Central and Deep East Oakland and 3 fixed sites in Contra Costa County running two hours each. Each site provides sterile syringes and access to harm reduction based services and supplies.
Mobile Harm Reduction Services – HEPPAC conducts street and venue based outreach by foot and through our mobile RV retrofitted with two counseling rooms targeting those highest at risk for transmission of HIV/HCV.
OPEND – Overdose Prevention and Education Naloxone Distribution – Serving Alameda County are looking for volunteers to participate in training’s to distribute naloxone to at risk communities.
